A Very Murray Christmas Review

Screen Shot 2015-12-25 at 2.35.28 PM  Sofia Coppola’s latest directorial effort is very similar to her work before this, a bit too long and sometimes boring, but unlike the previous films this one has a saving grace with Bill Murray who makes practically anything all the more entertaining. With Bill Murray in the lead and other cast member like Phoenix, Jenny Lewis, and Chris Tucker the film shines but is then taken down by the ok performances from Schwartzman and Maya Rudolph who serve their purpose and sort of just stand there singing for the rest of the runtime that feels much longer than the real runtime which is not even an hour. But, I must admit I did find myself entertained as I watched A Very Murray Christmas unfold even though Murray’s change of character was done too quickly and it just felt like a sprawling music video at times. In the end, A Very Murray Christmas is a nice cozy special with Bill Murray for the holidays but its nothing special and get a 61 out of 100 from me.
