The perfect film to start off a Halloween marathon, Shaun of the Dead is a hilarious, scary at times, just all-around awesome film to pop in and lay on your couch as you die from laughter. The first entrance in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy is the first true glimpse that we got from Wright, Frost, and Pegg’s genius comedic sensibilities, lampooning every single trope from every single horror movie, making respectful call-backs to classic horror movies, whilst implementing a new added layer of comedy into the genre, alongside an moving, original story, this film is truly a special film that shall be remembered as the years go by. But, its not simply a great lampooning of the zombie movie genre, with Wright and Pegg writing this film, we also get an emotional story about a man coming into his own with the zombie apocalypse simply as a backdrop to prove who he really is. That said, Shaun of the Dead is just an awesome movie you should watch this Halloween or whenever actually, with great writing, great direction, an original take on the zombie move genre, and a strong comedic presence from Pegg and Frost, Shaun of the Dead rightfully scores a 92 out of 100.
