The Kings of Summer Review

With Moises Arias attached, I expected The Kings of Summer to be some Disney, kid-friendly coming-of-age story, but The Kings of Summer is a great dialogue driven, under-appreciated, coming-of-age story. Sure it’s somewhat excessive with all of its montages and the way some characters behave, but I still loved it. This film’s strength are its witty dialogue, great chemistry among the leads, and how much fun it is. As I mentioned, the sense of camaraderie that you perceive from the characters works perfectly, you understand why each one of them runs away (Patrick’s parents are probably the most annoying film parents in film history), and Nick Robinson is spectacular. It does get a predictable at times, but it is executed so well, I never minded it.  More people should watch it, I cannot stress how captivating and fun I had with this film, so go on, watch it. I rate it at an 87 out of 100.
