The Gift Review

Screen Shot 2015-08-08 at 9.19.06 AM   Joel Edgerton’s directorial debut, The Gift, is a really surprising, atmospheric thriller.  Edgerton does a fascinating job directing his first film, setting up a chilling atmosphere, making you question which characters you should side with, tension building, and by the end, it leaves you with something to think about it and whether how things you might have said could have a bigger effect on people than you thought they would. Apart from creating a disturbing scenario, Edgerton directed everyone marvelously, especially jason Bateman who really immerses into his character, abandoning his former comedic actor self. In the end, The Gift receives a 93 out of 100 and is clearly the film you should go watch this weekend if you get the chance.
